*Take a picture of the back of your computer, TV or any other electronics before you disconnect your cords. This way, when you get ready to hook everything back up, you will know where everything goes.
*Put all of your important documents (new lease, moving truck rental, new utility set up, etc.) in one place so you will have easy access to it. For example, your purse, car, kitchen counter.
*Don't pack: toilet paper, paper towels, first aid kit and a few tools.. You will need these items before, during and after the move!!!
*Limit the different sizes of moving boxes. This will help when you are stacking the boxes. Make sure that you get sturdy boxes so that the boxes stacked on the bottom will not be crushed.
*Stay organized! Make sure to label each box with the contents and what room they will be going into.
*Use your towels, sheets, blankets, pot holders to wrap up your valuable things.
*When packing heavy items (books, etc), it is best to put them in smaller boxes so that they will be easier to carry.
*Instead of putting all of the boxes in your new home, put the non-essential boxes in your garage or an extra room instead of having them scattered all over the house. Take out one box at a time and unpack it. This will help you from being overwhelmed with boxes stacked to the ceiling and not knowing where to start.
*Start early! At least a month before your move, pack a few boxes every day so that when moving day gets here, you have everything ready for your movers. The people helping you move will appreciate you if you have everything ready to go and are not packing at the last minute.
*Feed your helpers. Asking someone to help you move is a big thing! Make sure that you feed them and let them know how much you appreciate them.
