TIPS FOR FALL

It's that time of year to get things ready for the cold winter months.   Below are a few tips for you to do this fall to make sure you are ready.

1.  Clean out your gutters.  Make sure they are free of leaves and debris.
2.  Rake the leaves out of your flower beds and yard.  You may have to do this several times before that last leaf finally falls.
3.  Remove any dead annual plants from your flower beds.
4.  Trim dead branches out of your trees.
5.  Aerate your lawn.  This will allow moisture and nutrients to get down to your roots.  It is also a good time to fertilize your lawn with a slow-release fertilizer.
6.  Check your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors.  Change those batteries!
7.  Clean and replace the filters in your heating system.
8.  Inspect your fireplace.  Clean and repair to make sure you are ready for that first fire of the year.
9.  Straighten your garage.  During the hot summer months, things tend to pile up.  Take advantage of the cooler weather, clean and put away your summer items.
10. Buy a pumpkin and some mums to spruce up your front porch!
